Midnight padded gracefully across the giant valley, his paws making virtually no sound as they hit the ground. His grandfather used to tell him stories of when his father was in the war. He examined the deep claw marks embedded in a stone, wondering what it would have been like to fight in that war. What a historic place this was. Leaping up on top of the boulder, he lay down and drifted into a light sleep.

Verina creped through the grass, weaving her way though the carved stones. - Wonder what the battle was like? Must have been a tough battle to be in. - She stopped at one to looked at the way the moonlight made it look beautiful, but terrifying at the same time.

(OCC: btw, its night time at the moment. just a heads up or else this post wouldnt make ay sense.)
Midnight, having been awake for a few minutes now, looked up at the bright moon and the countless stars. Quite beautiful. His jaws parted in a great yawn, his long white fangs gleaming in the moonlight. Streatching each leg, he climbed down from the boulder and continued his walk. Not long after that, he saw another large boulder. This one had moonlight shining off it in such a way, it looked amazing. Though little did he know who was on the other side of the boulder..

Verina put her paw up next to the marks, seeing the difference. The marks were thicker then any she could make, - Must have been a cat then. I wondered if all side of the bolder had this strange beauty. - She began to slowly walk around the huge stone, until she saw the giant.. - is it a wolf or a cat!??- she lowered her ears and started talking slow steps back, - Please don't see me, please don't see me!-

"Hmm?" Midnight grunted as his ears perked at a strange sound. He looked to the side of the boulder, and saw a wolf backing up, as if scared of him. His nostrels flared as he sniffed curiously, learning about this wolf. He had not seem many wolves in his life, and not all of them exactly too friendly. "Hello there. Who might you be, miss...?" His voice was deep and kind, yet gravelly from the toughness he had earned from being a loner for almost his whole life. The tips of his jet black fur shining dimly in the moonlight, he sat down calmly and wrapped his furry tail around his paws.

Verina stopped mid-step when he heard the male talk to her. She took a step forwards to balance herself, "My name is Verina, and who are you?" She made her words come out sharp and blunt but she was afraid of what he might do. Although his voice was somehow calming, as though he to knew how hard loneliness could be.

"Pleasure to meet you, Verina. My name is Midnight" he said, bowing his head a bit. "So... what brings you here?" Midnight asked, hoping to start a conversation. Being alone takes its toll, and its good to talk to someone every once in a while.

Verina took a casual step forward, calmed slightly by his choice of topic, "I'm here because..." she stopped because her reason was silly, but "Because something called me here, luring me to come see the old Battle field. " As she said the words her head bowed slightly in shame. She then quickly asked"What did you come here for, Midnight?"

"I unterstand that feeling. When I was younger, I used to feel compelled to go to certain places without a purpose. I came here partly becausae of that strange pull, but also because my grandfather used to tell me all the stories of when he was in the war, and I just decided to visit such a historic place." he replied, laying down in the soft grass. He could see that she had been a bit embaressed by her answer, but he didn't think it was weird at all.

Verina was starting to like this male cat, who talked to her as if they knew eachother. "Your grandfather?" Verina couln't hellp but giggle, "You're old!" She walked toward's him so she could see him better, for when he laid down he'd disappeared. When she saw him, she sat and looked closer at the old, well to her, male cat. ((sorry, didn't notice you'd replied))

His tail twitched slightly in brief annoyance, but quickly forgave it. "Heh. I guess I am. Well, my grandfather was the old one. He faught in the war when he was just a cub, and he died at age 80 when I was.. 2 or 3 years old. I dont remember much of his stories, but I do know that he was one of the younger ones to fight. He also had a long and deep scar on his back made by a human sword." As he spoke, there was a distinct tone in his deep voice; happiness. It had been so long since he had talked to another being, and he was actually starting to like her as well.

Verina watched his tail move in facination, - it's been so long... no! i can't pounce, he'd be angry.... but i't would be soooo fun!, but i can't, wait what?- She looked him in the face and tillted her head in confusion, - is he happy?? must be a memmery of his grandfather. - "I bet he told great stories of the battle. He wasn't in pain, was he, from his scar? "

Midnight watched her eyes dart from his tail to him. "He would say the pain would come and go." He replied. He saw again her eyes waunder to his tail. After a few moments, it hit him. Reading her playful intentions, he moved his long black tail back and forth as if to say, "Go ahead. As long as you dont bite down hard."

Verina twitched and her eyes suddenly glued to his moving tail. It was so enticing that her body stance went from tough to playful pup in a second. she suddenly went down into a jumping stance, head close to the ground and butt in the air. Her tail swished back and forth, then she pounced on the moving thing. Verina landed carefully and never actually used her teeth or claws.

A deep purring chuckle rose from Midnight's chest as he continued swishing his tail from side to side, watching her crouch and pounce on it. Acting too quickly to realize that she might not have recognized his own playful intent, he reached over and swatted Verina's shoulder (claws sheathed and not very hard) in the wildcat's manor of play. Seeing now what he'd done, he lowered his head slightly and hoped that she would not react negatively.

Verina stopped and looked at him, shocked, is he trying to play with me? Seeing his playful expression, she walked over to him and growled playfully. "Are you trying to play, Midnight?" she asked. She then batted at his paws and carefully nipped his ear.

Seeing that she was okay with it, he batted back. "Maaaaabey." he said slyly and ducked just a little too late as she went for his ear. After freeing himself, rubbed his head against her shoulder roughly, knocking her down playfully. Once she was down, he pinned her with one paw. At that moment, he got a good at her dark green eyes. His were a similar color, a deep emerald. For moments they just sat there, staring into one another's eyes. Breaking the trance, she shook his head and let her up, sitting with his head turned, thankful that his black fur was able to cover up a bit of what would otherwise be obvious blushing.

Verina laughed at the way he said the word ‘maybe’, then laughed harder when she fell down. Just as she was going to try to get up his paw came down and kept her where she was. She struggled for barely a second, because what wolf likes being on their back, then she saw his eye looking down at her. His eyes were so memorizing that she laid there all relaxed, until he moved. At that point she rolled over and looked at him strangely; he sat looking away from her. – is he embarrassed? Well if he is it’s ‘cus…. What could it be for? - “Midnight, what’s wrong? You aren’t harmed, are you? Or is it ‘cus I look funny? Do I have something nasty on my forehead?” Verina was very confused, he was playing all fun and stuff and now he’s just sitting there.
